Anti Vivisection Petition

Please sign the petition: To stop live animal testing in Ireland.

Over 100,000 animals are raised in captivity, many genetically modified to develop painful diseases so they can be tortured in Laboratories in Ireland.

Testing on live animals is completely unnecessary, as there are non-lethal methods now available.
The HPRA, Health Products Regulatory Authority are not helping the situation either, as they are in a cosy relation with the private companies who test on live animals in Ireland.

Contact them here: Kevin O’Malley House, Earlsfort Centre, Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin 2, D02 XP77, Ireland
Please help us drag science into the 21st Century:
THE IRISH ANTI-VIVISECTION
SOCIETY (IAVS) TOTALLY
CONDEMNS ALL ANIMAL
EXPERIMENTATION & TESTING AS
BEING CRUEL AND IMMORAL.

Live animal testing without anaesthesia takes place in 3rd level Colleges in Ireland by private companies, TCD, UCD, UCC, University of Galway and the notorious Charles River company in Co Mayo.

There is no protection for these sentient beings. Stop the live animal testing now!

Please stop all live animal testing in Ireland and switch to non-lethal means of testing the suitability of all products.

Here are some suggestions.

Vitro cell cultures : Human cells or tissue (from stem cells, or donated following surgery,
biopsies etc.) used in chemical safety tests, vaccine production, and drug development.
Mini-organs: Cells grown to produce miniature human organs (organoids). These 3D
structures closely replicate the complexity and function of human organs, and provide a
more human-relevant way of studying human disease.

Micro-physiological Systems (organs-on-a-chip): Complex cell-based devices (chips) that
mimic the key physiological aspects of human tissues and organs. Uses include the study of
diseases affecting specific organs, such as liver and kidneys. Eventually it is envisaged that
the entire biology/physiology of a human can be modelled in this way.
In Silico : Computer simulation and mathematical modelling to predict human response to
medications, and to model disease process and treatments. Artificial Intelligence and

Machine Learning (AI/ML) can enhance human assessment of chemical exposure safety.
In Chemico: Using chemical reactivity assays, experiments are performed on biological
molecules such as DNA and proteins in order to understand how these molecules interact
with each other and with drugs. Also used to test for skin and airway chemical sensitivities.

Human volunteers : Humans can trial new medicines, treatment options, and lifestyle
changes using techniques such as microdosing, nutritional supplementation, and dietary
and exercise modification.

Human patient studies : These are vastly superior to genetically modification of non-human
animals in order to mimic human conditions, as they involve interaction with people
actually experiencing certain conditions and diseases (often chronic ), who have the ability
to verbally report both illness-impact on their lives, and medication amelioration or
otherwise. The length of human lifespan also allows for meaningful long-term studies.

Epidemiology : The study of different population groups and their health status, both within
any one country, and worldwide ; invaluable for linking diet, lifestyle, and local conditions –
such as contaminated soil, water or air – to health and , particularly, to chronic diseases.
